I am just a normal person, having a not-so-normal interest in music. Music is not just a hobby for me, not even a passion but something encompassing my whole life itself.
I consider myself immensely blessed to be born in a family with strong musical roots, where people are not just interested in music but are connoisseurs and even artists. I have been training in Hindustani Classical music for the past eighteen years under the tutelage of my mother Smt. Meenal Deshpande. My mother is a renowned vocalist of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana and has been a disciple of Pt. Vithalrao Ghate, Pt. Ratnakar Pai and Gaansaraswati Smt. Kishori Amonkar.
I have attained Sangeet Visharad (equivalent to Bachelors degree) in Hindustani classical vocal music. I am a recipient of the Govt. of India scholarship by the Department of Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) for my music. I have also rendered songs in the Marathi album ‘Bavari Shyama’ and for the Marathi short film ‘Parjanya’. I love to perform on a live stage, it is an extra ordinary experience!
In my undergrad days, I was the Sub-Coordinator of the Music Society at BITS Pilani, Goa and it was a highly enriching musical experience. I got to hear and know genres of music that I was not introduced to previously, I got to work with a bunch of immensely talented folks and all this has made me musically mature. I was also one of the founders of SPIC MACAY Goa Chapter and got to interact closely with some exemplary artists in that capacity.
My tastes are not restricted to any specific genres. I just believe in good music, one that touches the heart and it could be in any form, by any artist. This blog is a journey to explore such good music through beautiful compositions from diverse genres..
